FAQ's

When is the wrestling season? As with most sports, there are certain athletes that wrestle year round and others that limit the season to two or three months out of the year. Our primary season runs from early November through January.

What equipment is needed? Singlets (the uniform) are provided to each registered athlete. Other equipment is optional although most of our wrestlers choose to buy wrestling shoes and headgear. See Other Helpful Links for equipment information.

Does my child have to participate in tournaments or meets? Our meets are optional but we do host an Eden Prairie tournament that we encourage all of our wrestlers to participate in.

How much practice is involved? Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M. The exceptions are the 7th and 8th graders who will practice with the High School. For information regarding 7th/8th grade please contact Troy Elmore for more information at 952-484-9445 or darnell326@hotmail.com.

Where are practices held? All practices are held in the EP High School Wrestling Room.

Do I have to do anything except get my child to practice? No, nothing is required but we do encourage volunteering where needed. We do have one fund raiser during the year (in early November) that we would like everyone to participate in. Most of our coaches and staff are volunteer so any assistance is appreciated. During the EP hosted tournament, we rely on our parents for help in having our tournament run smoothly.

How much does it cost? Registration this year is $80.00 and includes the use of a singlet for the season and a t-shirt to keep. Scholarships are available if needed. Please contact Kirk Monger at 952-367-7237 or kirk.monger@audatex.com for scholarship information.

I'm concerned because I've heard that kids need to lose weight in order to wrestle. Weight cutting is not necessary to participate. A solid wrestling team consists of athletes with a wide range of weights. In meets, your child will wrestle others of his/her age and weight range.
